You are graced with coastal breezes as the property is merely 6.2 km from the Pacific Ocean. These stretches of beaches are the most northerly surf beaches on the east coast. They adjoin the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and are crocodile and stinger free.
One third of the way into the property is a "defined drainage depression" (seasonal creek) with contours 15m above sea level either side. This would make an ideal dam site if you desired one.
From the middle of the property it gradually slopes down to 5 m above sea level at the rear. This boundary is fenced.
The eastern boundary has a good fire break. Power and phone are on the road reserve.
According to remnant vegetation map version 6 the property is zoned entirely light green which is not of concern. There are small sections of essential habitat in the middle and at the rear for the Wallem Froglet.
Vegetation at the front of the property is primarily 12.3.12 being Melaleuca viridiflora, Eucalyptus latisinensis or E. exserta +/- Melaleuca quinquenervia, Corymbia intermedia, E. tereticornis woodland to low open-woodland. It occurs on drainage lines along coastal lowlands.
90% of the vegetation at the rear is 12.3.5 being Melaleuca quinquenervia open-forest to woodland. Understorey depends upon duration of water logging; sedges and ferns, especially Blechnum indicum, in wetter microhabitats and grasses and shrubs in drier microhabitats. Ground layer species include the grasses Leersia hexandra and Imperata cylindrica, the sedges/rushes, Baumea rubiginosa, Gahnia sieberiana, Lepironia articulata, Schoenus brevifolius and Schoenus scabripes and the ferns Lygodium microphyllum and Stenochlaena palustris. Other tree species that may be present as scattered individuals or clumps include Lophostemon suaveolens, Eucalyptus robusta, E. tereticornis, E. bancroftii, E. latisinensis, Corymbia intermedia, Melaleuca salignus, Livistona australis, Casuarina glauca, Endiandra sieberi. Melastoma malabathricum subsp. malabathricum, Glochidion sumatranum and Melicope elleryana are often in understorey. Occurs on Quaternary alluvial plains in coastal areas.
The remaining 10% is 12.3.6 which is Melaleuca quinquenervia, Eucalyptus tereticornis, Lophostemon suaveolens +/- Corymbia intermedia open-forest to woodland with a grassy ground layer dominated by species such as Imperata cylindrica. Occurs on Quaternary floodplains and fringing drainage lines in coastal areas.
This property is approximately 20km from National Parks, Primary school and the facilities and fishing at Baffle Creek. Post is delivered 5 days a week.
Annual rates on the property are approximately $890 payable to the Gladstone Regional Council.
